Chemical Solutions
Powdered Carbon
Activated powdered carbon will remove organic contaminants from metal finishing chemistries including acid chloride zinc plating solutions, decorative nickel plating solutions, anodizing seals and anodizing dye rinses. JSA supplies high quality Calgon Carbon to the metal finishing industry because of the following advantages:
- Calgon Carbon provides the best STEP characteristics when plating duplex nickel (STEP refers to electro-chemical potential between nickel layers)
- Calgon GW-Powdered carbon packaged and sold in convenient 50 lb. bags and on 2000 lb. skids
- High bulk densities and optimum particle size of powdered carbon result in lower filter cake resistance and improved filtration flow
- Stocked centrally in Addison, IL for prompt delivery
Description
Calgon Carbon supplies both granular activated carbon and powdered activated carbon. According to Calgon, activated Carbon is a porous material that removes organic compounds from liquids and gases by a process known as “adsorption.” In adsorption, organic molecules contained in a liquid or gas are attracted and bound to the surface of the pores of the activated carbon as the liquid or gas is passed through.
The primary raw material used in the production of Calgon activated carbons is bituminous coal that is crushed, sized and processed in low-temperature bakers followed by high-temperature activation furnaces.
