Salt Spray Solution
Salt spray testing is the metal finishing industry standard measure of corrosion resistance. Many metal finishers own and operate salt spray cabinets to verify the corrosion protection of their applied coatings. To make things simple, consistent and in accord with the ASTM B117 standard, METALLINE CORPORATION manufactures METALLINE B117-R salt spray solution.

Description
MANUFACTURING PARAMETERS
Formulation: A mixture of 4.5 – 6.0% sodium chloride that meets or exceeds reagent grade for purity, and reagent grade Type IV deionized water that conforms to ASTM D1193-06.
Sodium Chloride Salt: Morton’s product data sheet indicates that there are no anti-caking agents in Culinox 999 salt (99.99% purity).
Note C under table 1 of ASTM B117-11 states that the limits for Halides (Bromide, Fluoride, and Iodide) can be ignored if the salt purity is greater than 99.9%.
Standardization: The solution is standardized using National Institute of Standards and Technology (N.I.S.T.) traceable buffers pH 4.0 and 7.0 that come from an ISO Guide 34 accredited source.
Manufacturing Equipment: Specific gravity, TDS/conductivity, and pH equipment have A2LA-accredited calibration with N.I.S.T. traceability.
Packaging: 55 gallon drums
