Metal Finishing Equipment

Chillers

Managing the temperature of most metal finishing solutions is critical for optimum performance. For aluminum anodizing solutions, temperature is directly related to pore size, dye absorption, conductivity and deposit quality. Maintaining consistent temperature for anodizing solutions is the job of the chiller.

When requesting a quote for a chiller, please provide the following information:

  • Description of the solution being chilled
  • Size of the process tank and solution volume
  • Rectifier size – voltage and amperage
  • Operating temperature
  • Incoming voltage and phase

Description

Chillers are available in a variety of sizes ranging from 1/4 Ton portable units to large 120 Ton cooling systems. The process of cooling or refrigeration is measured in Tons, where 1 Ton is equal to 12,000 BTUs per hour. It takes one BTU to raise (or lower) the temperature of 1 pound of water 1 degree Fahrenheit. The higher the BTUs the greater the capacity for cooling. Chiller manufacturers calculate the size of the unit required by reviewing all of the process parameters including the solution operating temperature, amount of solution in the tank, surface area of the parts in the tank and voltage and amperage of the rectifier.
