Metal Finishing Equipment

Filter Chambers

Filtration is recommended for nearly all metal finishing process solutions. Filtering mechanisms vary based on a number of factors. When external filtration is necessary a filter chamber is used, containing some type of filter media and powered by a solution pump. Filter chambers are manufactured out of a variety of different materials, in many different sizes and in many different configurations. When requesting a quote for a filter chamber or an external filtration system, please provide the following information:

  • Description of the chemical process requiring filtration
  • Size of the process tank (L” x W” x H” or Diameter” x H”)
  • Number of times the solution needs to be filtered per hour
  • Type of filter media required
  • Operating temperature of the solution
  •  Distance from the filter to the process tank
  • Incoming power – voltage and phase

Description

Filter chambers can be manufactured out of the following materials:

  • Plastics – Polypropylene, High Temp Poly, CPVC & PVDF
  • Metal – Carbon Steel, 304 Stainless Steel & 316 Stainless Steel

The type of filter media required often dictates the style of filter chamber:

  • Polypropylene string wound or polypropylene melt blown filter cartridges
  • Activated carbon filter cartridges
  • Bag filters
  • Bulk carbon filtration
  • Horizontal disc filters

Size of the filter chamber and the size of the solution pump depend on the following:

  • Size of process tank and the type of chemistry
  • Number of times the solution needs to be filtered per hour
  • Type of filter media required
  • Distance from the filter location to the process tank
